Statehood Festival and Expo

The Minnesota State Capitol in St. Paul will offer a Statehood Festival & Expo on Saturday and Sunday, May 17 & 18, with visits with historical characters from Minnesota’s past, a ceremonial lighting of the rotunda chandelier, performers, live music, exhibits, great food, trips to view the golden horses on the roof of the capitol (weather permitting), and a fireworks display. The Stearns County Household Hazardous Waste truck will travel to cities around the county, collecting hazardous products. Items that you can through into the truck include: paints, cleaners, chemicals, and fluorescent bulbs. Items that will NOT be accepted include: used motor oil, furniture, tires, and appliances. The service is free for you to use. The next stop will be in Melrose on Wednesday, May 21 from 9 until 1 pm at St. Mary’s Church.

There will be a Benefit Dinner, Silent Auction and Meat Raffle for Randy Gerads, who has been diagnosed with Gastric Stomach Cancer. The all you can eat Dad’s Belgian Waffle Dinner will be on Wednesday, May 21 at the American Legion Post 76 in St. Cloud. The benefit will be from 4-8pm. Paddle Boat Season on Lake George Opens

The Paddle Boat season will begin on Lake George on Monday, May 26. You can ride the paddle- boats on Thursday through Sunday from 1-7 pm. Cost is $5.50 for 30 minutes. Tickets for the boats can be purchased at the concession venue. All boaters will be issued a life jacket and they must be worn while on the lake. The season will end on Monday, September 1.

Items that you can throw into the truck include: paints, cleaners, chemicals, and fluorescent bulbs. Items that will NOT be accepted include: used motor oil, furniture, tires, and appliances.
