by Megan Rinerson, WJON.com

FARGO/MOORHEAD -- It is now the middle of July, what is known as the warmest part of the summer, and many us would like to get out and enjoy the weather. Why not put your top back and let your hair blow in the wind, on a trip up north to Minnesota and North Dakota's border. Today on our weekly "Tour of 10,000" lakes we are going to the Fargo Moorhead area.

Brian Matson is the Marketing Manager at Fargo-Moorhead Convention and Visitors Bureau. He says most people take a trip once a year to just to go shopping the West Acres Shopping Center. But you don't have to be a shop-a-holic to enjoy the cities.

Matson says if you would like to learn about early the Viking heritage there is a great place to bring the family. The Heritage Hjemkomst Interpretive Center is a place where they have a replica ship that the Vikings sailed.

But, Matson says the one thing that kids will enjoy the most is the Children's Museum at Yunker Farm. Or check out the Red River zoo.

However, you don't have to bring kids to have fun. You can take a guided tour at a turn-of-the-century warehouse full of art, at the Plains art museum.

Matson says another great place to make a stop at is the Fargo Air Musuem. Matson says one place where you might end up spending the whole day at is Bonanzaville.

Now if you take a trip to the Fargo-Moorhead area it will be well worth it because there is so much to do. You can walk down their Celebrity Walk of Fame, check out the Log Cabin Folk Art Center, the Comstock Museum, the Thunder Road Family Fun Park, take a pontoon boat tour on the Red River.

Next week on our Weekly Tour of 10,000 Lakes we'll go to Rochester the home of Minnesota's most well known Hospital the Mayo Clinic.
