Sartell man starts write-in campaign for Bachmann's seat
by Jim Maurice, WJON.com

UNDATED -- A Sartell man will make a second attempt to unseat Michele Bachmann as the Sixth District Congressman.

Aubrey Immelman has announced his plan to run as a write-in Republican candidate in the November election.

He says he made the decision to resurrect his campaign after Bachmann made statements about Barack Obama on Friday afternoon.

Immelmann lost to Bachmann in the Republican primary 86% to 14%.

He says one thing he will NOT do is ask Democrats to vote for him. He says he wants his candidacy to be a Republican referendum on Representative Bachmann and the direction the party has taken this country.

The Democratic candidate is Elwyn Tinklenberg.  His campaign has raised almost $650,000 just since Bachmann made her comments on Friday.

Immelman is a professor at St. John's University.
