Wanted: Women with hot flashes
by Jim Maurice, WJON.com
ST. CLOUD -- The Coborn Cancer Center is looking for women going through menopause.
They're recruiting women for a nationwide, eight-week research study using pregabalin.
It alleviates hot flashes, and could be an alternative for women who don't want to take estrogen therapy for fear of increased risk of breast cancer.
Patients will have a one time visit with the cancer center doctor in charge of the study and will be monitored weekly by the research staff. Participants will receive the study medication at no charge and will be asked to track the number and severity of the hot flashes they suffer each day. They'll also be asked to complete a weekly questionaire regarding their quality of life.
To find out about participating call the Coborn Cancer Center at (320) 229-49907 or send an e-mail
