Stearns commissioners get update on constitutional amendment planned for fall election

ST. CLOUD -- Advocates for a constitutional amendment are hoping the question doesn't get lost in what's sure to be a "jam-packed" ballot this fall.
Gary Botzek of the Minnesota Environmental Partnership campaign gave Stearns County commissioners an update on the proposal this week.
Botzek says if voters approve a three-eighths-of-a-percent sales tax increase, it would infuse millions of dollars into parks and trails, the arts, lakes and streams and forests.
He says they are trying to educate voters that the state lottery proceeds aren't doing enough.
Botzek says even though a simple majority will determine the outcome, he wants you to remember failing to vote on the question counts as a "no" vote.
