SAUK RAPIDS -- An alert citizen is being credited with helping authorities make a drug bust in Sauk Rapids.
Benton County Sheriff's deputies received a call at 1:15 p.m. Monday about suspicious activity at Benton Drive Storage.
The caller told officers a vehicle arrived at the business, parked for a short time, then left.
The caller went to check the area and found a small bag of marijuana. Officers arrived and conducted surveillance until another vehicle arrived.
Police stopped the vehicle where the occupants admitted to coming there to pick up the pot. Police say 28-year-old Thomas Provo of Sartell admitted he had rented a storage unit that contained approximately a half-pound of marijuana.
Officers searched the storage unit and found about one pound of marijuana, digital scale and sandwich baggies for packaging.
The street value of the seized pot is about $3,600.
