26 SCSU faculty get layoff notices

ST. CLOUD -- Layoff notices were sent to 26 probationary faculty at St. Cloud State University.

It's part of an effort to eliminate 80-90 faculty positions. They'll also reduce faculty through attrition and early retirement.

Officials say the notices had to be sent by August 1st, but all 26 people won't necessarily be losing their jobs. If all of them do end-up getting cut, it would save the school more than $2 million.

SCSU needs to cut a $13.7 million budget deficit.
