MetroBus hits biker, sends woman to hospital

WAITE PARK -- A Waite Park woman was hurt when she was hit while riding her bike today.

Waite Park Police Chief Dave Bentrud says 51-year-old Janice Yaeger was riding her bike on a sidewalk against traffic along 10th Avenue South when she was hit by a MetroBus as she tried to cross Sundial Drive.

Bentrud says the driver of the MetroBus was looking for traffic from the south and did not see Jaeger coming from the north. The bus clipped the back wheel of the bike and sent Jaeger to the hospital with minor injuries.

The bus driver, 49-year-old Connie Petermeier was not hurt and the bus was not carrying any passengers at the time of the accident.
