Olson re-elected MnSCU board chair; Saigo named President Emeritus

ST. PAUL -- The Board of Trustees of Minnesota State Colleges and Universities has re-elected David Olson as board chair.

Olson, of Minnetonka, has been president of the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce since 1991. As MnSCU board chair, he's pledging to continue forging partnerships between the business community and state colleges and universities.

The board also re-elected Ruth Grendahl as vice chair and Scott Thiss as treasurer. Their one-year terms begin August 1st.

In other business, the board granted emeritus status to four retiring presidents: Roland Barden, retiring president of Minnesota State University Moorhead; Roy Saigo, previous president of St. Cloud State University; Joseph Sertich, retiring president of the Northeast Higher Education District, a consortium of five colleges; and Ronald Wood, retiring president of Minnesota West Community and Technical College in Granite Falls.
