SAUK RAPIDS -- This weekend the Sauk Rapids Fire Department will celebrate their 100th anniversary.
Chief Tony Hommerding says they know exactly when the fire department was formed, and they have a long history in the town. He says they have the ledger book from the first meeting that was held on July 19th, 1908 -- there were 19 men in attendance.
Hommerding says they've grown to 27 firefighters right now, and they plan to add three more next month.
They'll be celebrating their centennial with a party on Saturday night at the Sports Arena East on the Benton County Fairgrounds. Robby Vee will be playing starting at 7:00 p.m. The cost to get in is $5.
The money raised will go towards the Sauk Rapids Firemen's Relief Association.
