by Megan Rinerson, WJON.com

UNDATED -- You have a chance to learn how to be a police officer for free.

Once again this year, five area cities will be offering five people from each city, a chance to attend the Metro Citizens Police Academy. St. Cloud Sergeant Jerry Edblad says during the 11 weeks, they teach everything from defensive tactics to how to make a traffic stop.

Edblad says the cities include St. Cloud, Sartell, Sauk Rapids, St. Joseph and Waite Park.

If you would like to attend applications are due August 11th.

You can pick up an application at your local Police Department or some have them available online.
