AARP:  St. Cloud in top 10 for life expectancy
by Jim Maurice, WJON.com

ST. CLOUD -- St. Cloud has some bragging rights from a list published in the latest A-A-R-P magazine.

The magazine for retired folks says St. Cloud residents are living longer than most of the rest of the country.

We're ranked 10th on a "Longest Life Expectancy" list. Our average life expectancy is just over 80 years, two years more than the national average.

The magazine describes St. Cloud as "a classic midwestern town", with "some of the lowest rates of cancer, heart disease, and diabetes" in the country.

Ames, Iowa tops the list with a life expectancy just over 81 years.

By the way, St. Cloud also ranks 2nd in the nation in the "stress-free" category.
