The economy and increase in strays affecting humane society
by Megan Rinerson, WJON.com

ST. CLOUD -- There has been a boom in stray cats in the metro, and that is having an effect on our local humane society.

Vicki Davis is the Executive Director at the Tri-County Humane Society. She says they have been seeing a lot more stray animals this year, and expect that number to rise next year due to municipalities not dealing with strays.

She says there have also been people who lost their homes and want to temporarily bring in their animals. However, their facility is full and can't hold pets for owners looking for housing. So, Davis is working on a grant to hopefully help out those people who can't care for their animals due to the economy.
