6th District candidates square off on energy issues
by Jim Maurice, WJON.com

AVON -- Energy is shaping up as a major issue in the race between Republican Michele Bachmann and Democrat Elwyn Tinklenberg in the Sixth District Congressional Race.

During a campaign stop in Avon yesterday (Wednesday), Tinklenberg says he opposes drilling for more oil in the part of Alaska known as ANWAR.

Tinklenberg supports a plan that would use more alternative energy resources.

Meanwhile, Bachmann says tapping into more American oil in Alaska is the best way to cut gas prices.

Bachmann faces a primary challenge from Aubrey Immelman of Sartell in the Republican race. The winner will take-on Tinklenberg in November.
