St. John's grad advances to Olympic rowing finals

Beijing, China -- A University of St. John's graduate will go for a gold medal at the Olympics.

Matt Schnobrich and the U.S. Men's eight-man rowing team won their race today (Tuesday).

The team now advances to Sunday's final.

Australia, The Netherlands, and Poland also qualified for the finals today, joining Canada and Great Britain in the final field of six.

The U.S. is the defending Olympic gold medalist in this event.

Schnobrich graduated from St. John's in 2001.
