Gophers safety Dominique Barber goes in 6th round of NFL draft to Houston Texans
by The Associated Press

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Barber family might want to move to Texas. Minnesota Gophers safety Dominique (DOM'-in-ik) Barber has been selected in the sixth round of the NFL draft by the Houston Texans.

This comes three years after older brother Marion, a Gophers running back, was drafted in the fourth round by the Dallas Cowboys.

Dominique Barber, who played at Wayzata High School, extended the University of Minnesota's streak of having at least one player taken in the NFL draft to nine straight years.

The Barber boys came from an athletic bloodline. Their father, also named Marion, was a star runner for the Gophers and went on to play for the New York Jets.

Dominique Barber was the lone standout on a Minnesota defense that struggled last season.
