by The Associated Press

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota Lynx open their tenth season this evening when they host the Detroit Shock. Tipoff is at 5 p.m. at Target Center.

It's the second time the Lynx have opened the season against the Shock. The first time was Minnesota's first game in team history on June 12th of 1999.

The 2008 edition of the Lynx features six new players, including first round draft pick Candice Wiggins and free agent signee Anna DeForge, who spent the last two seasons with the Indiana Fever.

Detroit finished last season 24-10 and advanced to the WNBA finals, where the Shock were bested three games to two against the champion Phoenix Mercury.
