Clark's hit lifts Twins to 7-6 win over Rangers in 12 innings
by The Associated Press

MINNEAPOLIS -- Howie Clark's single over the head of center fielder Josh Hamilton lifted Minnesota to a 7-6 victory in 12 innings over the Texas Rangers.

Meanwhile, Bobby Korecky become the first Twins pitcher to get a hit in an American League game since the designated hitter was instituted in 1973. He laced a base hit through the hole between first and second in the eleventh.

Korecky picked up his first career win by getting two outs in the top of the eleventh with the bases loaded and then pitching a perfect 12th.

Carlos Gomez then led off the 12th with an infield single and advanced to second on a groundout from Delmon Young. Mike Lamb was walked intentionally.

Then, with pitcher Livan Hernandez (LEE'-vahn her-NAN'-dez) on deck ready to pinch hit, Clark sent one over the head of a leaping Hamilton to drive in Gomez with the winning run.
