Timberwolves get No. 3 pick in NBA draft lottery

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota Timberwolves got exactly what they deserved in the NBA's draft lottery.
The Timberwolves were awarded the third overall selection in June's draft. They had the third-worst record in the NBA in the regular season, so the finish was appropriate.
Assistant general manager Fred Hoiberg represented the team at the proceedings. He carried with him a stuffed bear wearing Timberwolves clothes given to him by a 12-year-old Brooklyn Park boy.
Matthew Gamber takes the bear into every surgery he has, and says it always brings him good luck.
The bear did the trick in a way because the Wolves did not lose position to the lottery. They started the night with the best odds of getting the No. 6 selection.
