Ponson pitches complete game for Rangers

MINNEAPOLIS -- Sidney Ponson (pahn-SOHN') threw the 29th complete game of his career in the Texas Rangers' 10-1 victory over the Minnesota Twins.
It was one day less than one year since the Twins released Ponson, when the right-hander was struggling with a 2-5 record and a 6.93 ERA.
With the win against his old team, Ponson remains unbeaten at 3-and-0. He plowed through the Twins' lagging lineup with only one run and six hits allowed to finish nine innings for the first time since 2005.
Michael Young started the defining sixth inning with a homer, and Ian Kinsler finished with a three-run shot against Minnesota starter Nick Blackburn.
Gerald Laird became the sixth Texas batter to get at least two hits with a solo homer in the ninth, as the Rangers ripped Blackburn and two relievers for 17 hits.
