WJON Sports


The Twins lost 10-1 Wednesday night at the Metrodome to the Texas Rangers.  Former Twin, Sidney Ponson threw all 9 innings with 6 hits and 1 earned run allowed to get the win and improve to 3-0.  Texas scored 7 runs in the 6th inning with just 1 of those runs earned off Nick Blackburn.  An error by 2nd baseman Alexi Casilla allowed the Rangers to open the scoring in the 7th.  Blackburn allowed 10 hits and 1 earned run in 6 innings to take the loss and drop to 4-3.  Joe Mauer led the Twins with 2 hits.  The Twins fall to 23-23 and are now 2 1/2 games back of the Chicago White Sox for first place in the American League Central.  The Twins host Texas again today to wrapup the 4-game series at 12:10 this afternoon, pregame on WJON at 11:40.  Righthander Livan Hernandez (6-2) gets the start on the mound for the Twins while righthander Vincente Padilla (6-2) toes the rubber for Texas.
