WJON Sports


The Twins completed a 3-game sweep in Kansas City against the Royals Thursday night with a 5-1 win.  Kevin Slowey threw all 9 innings with 6 hits and 1 earned run allowed to get the win and improve to 2-4.  Carlos Gomez led the Twins at the plate going 4-5 with a run scored and 2 RBIs, Alexi Casilla added 3 hits and Joe Mauer was 2-4 with a run scored and an RBI.  The Twins improve to 28-25 and remain 2 games back of the White Sox for first place in the American League Central.  Minnesota begins a 7-game homestand and 4-game series with the New York Yankees tonight at 7:10, pregame on WJON at 6:40.  Lefthander Glen Perkins (2-1) gets the start on the mound for the Twins and righthander Mike Mussina (7-4) toes the rubber for the Yankees.
