Yankees beat Twins

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Yankees downed the Twins 6-5 Friday night at the Metrodome in the first game of a 4-game series. 

Glen Perkins had his shortest and worst start of the year allowing 10 hits and 5 earned runs in just 4 innings.  He takes the loss and drops to 2-2 on the year. 

The Twins scored 4 runs in the first inning to lead 4-1 but couldn't hold it. 

Justin Morneau went 2-4 with a solo homerun and 2 runs scored and Alexi Casilla had 2 hits and a run scored.  

The Twins fall to 28-26 and remain 2 games back of the White Sox for first place in the American League Central. 

Minnesota will host the New York Yankees again tonight at 6:10, pregame on WJON at 5:35.  

Righthander Boof Bonser (2-6) gets the start on the mound for the Twins and righthander Chien-Ming Wang (6-2) toes the rubber for the Yankees.
