WJON Sports


The Twins had 16 hits an 14 runs Saturday night in their 14-2 pounding of the Texas Rangers.  Minnesota broke the game wide open with 3 runs in the 5th inning and 6 more runs in the 6th.  Justin Morneau went 2-4 with 2 runs scored, a homerun and 5 RBIs, Joe Mauer was 2-3 with 3 runs scored, a homerun and 3 RBIs, and Delmon Young went 3-5 with a homerun, 2 runs scored and 2 RBIs.  Livan Hernandez threw the first 7 innings with 5 hits and 2 earned runs allowed to get the win and improve to 10-6.  The Twins improve to 55-42 and are now just 1/2 game back of the White Sox for first place in the American League Central.  The Twins go for the sweep of the Rangers today at 1:10, pregame on WJON at 12:40.  Righthander Scott Baker (6-2) gets the start on the mound for the Twins and righthander Vincente Padilla (10-5) toes the rubber for the Rangers.
