ST. CLOUD -- St. Cloud Apollo High School is close to having a new Activities Director.

Principal Charlie Eisenrich says Chris McElroy has accepted the position.

He's been the Athletic Director at the Peace Academy Charter school in the Twin Cities for the past 10 years.

However, the move isn't official just yet. The school board first has to make some changes to the position, including not requiring that the A.D. have a teaching license.   Previous A.D.s at both Apollo and Tech were required to teach one class.  Under the new system, they will not spend any time in the classroom.

They're expected to make that change during their board meeting this week. And then officially hire McElroy in August.

He will replace former Apollo A.D. Jim Michaud.
