Former Viking Eller ticketed for improper license plates

MINNEAPOLIS -- Former Minnesota Vikings great Carl Eller's latest run-in with Minneapolis police wasn't as serious as the incident before.
Police say he was ticketed because he didn't have special license plates on his motorcycle that indicated he had past alcohol-related driving offenses.
Police say officers on routine patrol on Wednesday recognized Eller and knew his criminal history. They pulled him over and ran his plates.
The check allegedly showed the plates were improper and they wrote a ticket for displaying unlawful plates and released him. The motorcycle was impounded.
Minneapolis Police Sergeant Jesse Garcia says Eller was cooperative, ``very nice,'' and had not been drinking.
Eller did not immediately return messages left at his home or on his cellular phone by The Associated Press on Friday.
Eller's behavior was allegedly quite different a month ago when he got into a violent scuffle with Minneapolis police officers who suspected him of drunken driving. Eller has been charged with felony assault and making terroristic threats in that incident.
