Police: Teen dead after night of drinking at Mankato park

MANKATO -- Police are investigating the death of a 16-year-old boy who had been drinking alcohol with friends in a Mankato park.
Authorities were called to Land of Memories Park around 11:40 p.m. Friday and found the teen not breathing. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators say he and four others were drinking alcohol in the park and that the boy passed out. The others in the group called for help when they noticed he wasn't breathing.
An autopsy will be conducted.
The teen was a tenth grader at Mankato West High School. His name hasn't been released.
Police in Mankato have scheduled a news conference for Saturday afternoon to discuss the death.
