Officials keep eye on St. Croix at Stillwater
by The Associated Press

ST. PAUL -- Officials are keeping an eye on Minnesota's rivers and creeks Sunday and monitoring dikes for potential leaks as the threat of flooding still lingers.

In Delano, the Crow River was slowly going down Sunday after cresting at 20.26 feet a day earlier.

Mayor Joe McDonald says authorities are now watching the dike.

He says because the dike was saturated, there's a potential some weaker areas could leak as the water goes down.

Department of Public Safety spokesman Doug Neville says authorities are also watching the St. Croix River at Stillwater.

It's slowly rising, and threatening the Stillwater lift bridge. The St. Croix is projected to crest at 87.2 feet Thursday.

Neville says the flooding situation looks good this year because everybody was prepared and protective measures were in place well before water started rising.
