Arrest made in stabbing of elderly Hopkins woman
by The Associated Press

HOPKINS -- A 27-year-old man is in the Hennepinn County Jail, suspected in the stabbing death of 90-year-old Irene Kunze in Hopkins.

The Hopkins Police Department says the man was arrested Wednesday evening in St. Paul without incident. He was tied to the crime scene by DNA evidence.

He has not been formally charged.

The Hennepin County medical examiner's office ruled Kunze's death a homicide by sharp force injuries. It's the first homicide in the Minneapolis suburb in nine years.

Police believe they have recovered the weapon used to kill her.
