St. Paul hospitals ready for convention
by The Associated Press

ST. PAUL -- Hospitals in St. Paul are gearing up for the throngs of people expected to attend the Republican National Convention.

The convention will be held Sept. 1 to Sept. 4 at the Xcel Energy Center.

The five hospitals nearest the Xcel center are Children's Hospital and Clinics of Minnesota, Gillette Children's Specialty Healthcare, Regions Hospital, St. Joseph's Hospital and United Hospital.

Those facilities have been working with convention planners to prepare for any emergency.

The hospitals will announce their preparedness plans on Monday. One part of the plan includes a control center for medical emergencies.
