Midwest Airlines announces cut to schedule
by The Associated Press

MILWAUKEE -- Midwest Airlines is announcing a major cut to its flight schedule _ dropping its departures from Milwaukee from 118 a day down to 90 a day.

Several cities will lose flights from Midwest Airlines and its sister Midwest Express entirely.

The Florida cities of Fort Lauderdale and Fort Myers won't get flights anymore. The company says its too difficult to justify long flights to leisure destinations. Tampa will be the only Florida city retaining year-round service from Midwest.

Flights to Minneapolis, Washington D.C., and New York's La Guardia airport are still on the schedule.

The changes take effect September 8 _ and come on top of planned job cuts at the airline.
