Gary Gruba

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your family
I have been married to my wife Ruth for 30 years. We have lived in Foley all of our married life. I am part owner and currently manage Neighborhood Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning. I like to be active in church and community. We enjoy camping, golf and travel.

What experience do you have that prepares you for public office?
I was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps in 1979. I have been involved in local business for nearly 30 years as a technician, manager and owner. I have served as chairman of the Foley Civic Group, member and chairman of the Foley Planing Commission and currently in my second term on the Foley City Council. Being a current council member I am aware of water and waste water issues, future street improvement plans and future developement plans.

Why did you decide to run for this office?
I decided to run again for council because I enjoy the challenge of dealing with the issues the city is facing. It is rewarding to see projects from concept to completion.

Top three issues you would tackle, if elected
The challenges I see facing the city are the need to provide an attractive business environment. We need to provide and maintain our water supply as well as plan for future expansion of our waste treatment system. We need to continue to maintain the streets and infrastructure and not allow it deteriorate beyond repair.
