Tracy Morse
Please tell us a little bit about yourself and your family.
My name is Tracy L. Morse. My husband, Tom, and I have three grown children that all graduated from the Sauk Rapids/ Rice school district. I have enjoyed operating a family child care business for the past 24 years in Sauk Rapids. I have had the opportunity to serve on the district 47 school board and numerous advisory groups since 1998.
What experience do you have that prepares you for public office?
I would bring ten years experience serving as School Board Chair, Vice-Chair along with the Early Childhood Advisory Council, Sauk Rapids Recreation Advisory Board, Curriculum Advisory Committee, Transportation, Community Education Advisory Council and MSBA Liaison. I have been active as a volunteer at all grade levels and many different activities including PTA over the past 20 years. I have also been an instructor for the American Red Cross and an independent instructor on child care related issues for over ten years.
Why you decided to run for this office.
There are difficult financial situations still facing districts state wide and it is important to face those challenges with hands on experience, common sense and compassion. I feel that I can bring that because of my history of being involved. I want to continue my involvement to assure that even if there are tough decisions yet to be made that all of the districts children receive equal representation and the best educational opportunity will be provided.
top three issues you would tackle, if elected.
Encourage legislation that will correct the extreme financial variations that occur across Minnesota. There needs to be aequitable distribution of education dollars regardless of school district location.
Collect creative solutions to budget shortfalls not only within our district but from other districts that have already been faced with financial challenges.
Connect with community members gathering ideas and issues to assure that the community and the school district move forward sharing the same vision.
